Social Value

At Sunfish Services, we recognise that following a Social Value plan is crucial to creating a sustainable business. Currently, we’re focusing on creating new opportunities for employment, whether that’s through apprenticeship schemes or supporting those working towards a career change, and supporting the wider community.

What is Social Value?

Social Value is the impact a business or organisation has on people, the community, and the planet. There are three primary aspects:

  • Social
  • Financial
  • Environmental

At Sunfish, we are striving towards creating a positive impact on the community and the planet. Through nurturing our business relationships, understanding the needs and ambitions of our colleagues, and building an awareness of our local area, we are proud to be taking the steps necessary to fulfil our goals.

Social & Community Values

Maintaining strong relationships with our customers is of great importance to us.

In 2025, we proudly sponsored Platform Housing’s Charity Bike Ride in aid of the NSPCC.

“The opportunity to support a charity that works so hard to keep children safe and takes action to provide brighter futures is a no-brainer. We are glad to be cheering on a team of people who are putting themselves out there, no matter how tough the challenge, to do something that will make a difference. We wish them all the very best of luck with the ride!”

We also sponsored Platform Housing’s Community Heroes Awards, celebrating those who go above and beyond to make a difference within their communities.

“From fundraising to caring, every aspect of support deserves to be recognised. We are excited to help shine a light on the organisations that are bringing communities together at a time it is needed most.”

Social Value in the Local Community

Our head office is based in Melbourne, South Derbyshire, and since 2023 we have been primary sponsors of Melbourne Art and Architecture Festival. The event features around 150 artists from the local and surrounding areas across 60 venues in Melbourne. In 2024, the festival had over 6000 visitors. It is a fantastic event that provides business opportunities for local creatives and businesses, as well as boosting tourism in the area. Some of our employees also volunteer at the event.

Employment Opportunities

We are happy to be supporting Skills for Security apprenticeships to encourage and help individuals develop the skills they need for a rewarding career in the UK’s private security sector. We are currently taking on apprentices for the Level 3 Fire, Emergency and Security Systems Technician Course.

Recruiting apprentices means we can support young people in the early stages of their career as well as those who are looking for a career change.

Investing in Our Team

Employee satisfaction is a priority for us. To achieve this, we provide up-skilling and development opportunities to improve knowledge and skill. Whether it’s progressing from junior to senior roles or shifting across departments, our staff are encouraged to explore their full potential.

This approach has resulted in:

  • Improved self-esteem and job satisfaction for employees
  • Greater internal progression
  • A more experienced, capable workforce that benefits our clients
