Ziton Fire Alarm Installation
At Sunfish, we specialise in the installation of fire alarms, including Ziton.
We are a BAFE Accredited company, meaning we install all devices in compliance with British Standards.
Why is fire alarm installation important?
The function of a fire alarm is to detect when a fire has broken out in a building and alert the occupants to ensure they can reach a point of safety.
If a fire alarm is not properly installed, the alarm may fail to detect a potential fire.
- Early detection: A fully effective fire alarm ensures occupants are alerted to potential fires and have time to safely evacuate the property and alert emergency services.
- Minimising property damage: The sooner a fire is detected, the sooner it can be dealt with and damage to the property can be reduced.
- Legal and insurance implications: Ensuring proper fire alarm installations not only keeps you compliant with local regulations but can also affect insurance premiums and claims.
Ziton Fire Alarms: Maintenance
Sunfish Services provide fire alarm maintenance for non-domestic properties.
- 24/7 Call-Outs
- Fully Certified Engineers
- Alarm Test Certification
It is essential that fire alarms are properly maintained to ensure they are fully effective and comply with British Standards.
According to British Standard 5839-1:
“It is essential that the system is subject to periodic inspection and servicing so that faults are identified, preventive measures can be taken to ensure the continued reliability of the system, false alarm problems are identified and suitably addressed, and the user is made aware of any changes to the building that affect the protection afforded by the system.”
Fire alarms can help save lives and reduce damage to the property.
- Maintenance & Repairs: Regular maintenance is pivotal to ensure the efficacy of these systems. Learn more about our maintenance services here.
- Compliance Audits: With the Nimbus Fire Alarm Compliance, we ascertain that your systems align with the industry standards.
- 24/7/365 Support: Our support doesn’t sleep. With our round-the-clock helpline, rest assured that any faults or false alarms are promptly addressed.
Fire Alarm Monitoring
Our engineers are happy to provide a monitoring service for non-domestic properties.
Fire alarm monitoring is where an external company monitors a fire alarm system to ensure that a building is safe from fire should an alarm be triggered. Fire alarms are monitored by Alarm Receiving Centres who contact the emergency services, and our engineers should a fire occur in an unoccupied building.
The cost of fire alarm monitoring varies depending on the package that you choose. Although you can’t put a price on safety, at Sunfish Services we offer a no-obligation free quote and our experts can discuss what fire alarm monitoring package is right for your organisation and budget.

Contact UsFrequently Asked Questions
What is the life expectancy of a Ziton detector?
Most point-type fire detectors manufactured and distributed by Carrier (formerly UTC Fire & Security) have an estimated working life of around 10 years when used in dry, non-corrosive atmospheres and if they are regularly inspected, tested, and maintained in line with manufacturers guidelines.
Detectors may continue to operate within specification after 10 years of service if in clean dry atmospheres due to intelligent design and programmed software recalibration, but gradual deterioration of integrity and reliability is eventually inevitable.
UTC’s latest update now states that:
“In the interests of safety and the avoidance of unwanted alarms, UTC is recommending the routine replacement of detectors after 10 years of continuous service”.
Who can install a fire alarm?
Fire alarm installation should be carried out by competent technicians working to the approved design and requirements of British Standard BS 7671 (for the electrical safety of the installation). A good way to ensure that the installation company is competent is to choose a company which is accredited to BAFE Scheme SP203-1 (www.bafe.org.uk).

Yes. All public buildings are required to maintain their fire alarm systems.
