Do I need a fire alarm?
Yes. It is a legal requirement for all public buildings to have a fully functional fire alarm system. The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 requires that property owners reach required standards of fire safety.

Do I have to have my fire alarm maintained?
Yes. If you own a public building you are responsible for ensuring your fire alarm system is regularly serviced by a competent person. According to British Standard 5839-1:
“It is essential that the system is subject to periodic inspection and servicing so that faults are identified, preventive measures can be taken to ensure the continued reliability of the system, false alarm problems are identified and suitably addressed, and the user is made aware of any changes to the building that affect the protection afforded by the system.”

What is fire alarm monitoring?
Fire alarm monitoring is when an external company known as an Alarm Receiving Centre monitors a fire alarm system to ensure the property is safe from fire in case an alarm is triggered. The Alarm Receiving Centre will contact the emergency services and our engineers should an incident occur.
Fire alarms are monitored wirelessly via 4G and IP connections ensuring that if there’s a fault with your fire alarm there will always be a point of contact. Should there be a fire in your building or a fault with your alarm, an accredited 24/7 Alarm Receiving Centre will be alerted straight away.
